This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper - T.S. Eliot
A series of improvisations based on the 1957 post-apocalyptic novel by Nevil Shute, detailing the last months of life in Melbourne as deadly radiation drifts south. People cling to normality in a gentle melancholic tale of the end of the world.
Recorded using three simultaneous amplifiers - one inside, one outside and one in a water tank. No overdubs etc, just straight up as is.

Such beautiful, soulful jazz.
The music here is superbly composed, with compositions that ebb and flow as naturally as the flowing of water, which lends a reflective, elegiac feel to the entire album.
What is particularly impressive is the intuitive feel between all players, with the saxophonists, Julien Wilson and Carl Mackey being especially good throughout.
This is one of the best Australian jazz albums I've heard. Music as natural as breathing. Michael Mueller
